I Finally Found Kids Clothes My Son Actually Looks Cool In (Honest Little Trouble Review)

If you’re a mom who listened to Taking Back Sunday, there's a zero percent chance your son should be wearing dinosaur shirts.

The millennial moms I know - the ones who had opinions about music and clothes and aesthetics from a very young age - are the same ones who now stand in Target staring at the kids section (especially the BOYS section) like, “this cannot be it.”

Bluey graphics. Neon dinosaurs. Everything either a cartoon character or so boring. I have taste. Where are the kids clothes made for people who have taste?

Then I came across Little Trouble. And now everyone knows my son has taste, too. And a little bit of edge.

What is Little Trouble and Why Are They So Cool?

Little Trouble is a California-based kids clothing brand founded by a mom - and you can tell, because every design decision makes sense for an actual kid living an actual life. Organic cotton. Built to be worn hard. Graphic-forward without being chaotic. The brand's own tagline is "Eat Mud. Spit Fire." which is the most accurate description of my son I've ever read on a clothing tag.

Price range: $22-$48 per piece. Free shipping on orders over $100.

It is shockingly affordable for how good it is. I’m serious, you feel the quality the second you touch the products.

The Pieces I Ordered For My Son, And Then Bought For My Nephew

These are the ones that have been worn, washed, worn again, played in, rolled in grass, and still look good:

The softest PJs - The kind of fabric you want touching your kid’s skin, and holds up after washing. They’re cool enough to wear outside and soft enough to stay in on the weekends. I’ve washed these 20+ times and they are just as soft as the day we got them. Did I mention how soft they are???

The checkered pants - Wide-leg, soft denim. Pairs with everything. My son basically lives in them. They also have a little lightning bolt on the butt. UGH, so cool.

They’re affordable when you see how much wear you’ll get with these. They’re stretchy, wider leg, so they will grow a bit with your kiddo.

The graphic tops - This is their core product and it delivers. The graphics are the kind of thing a cool 26-year-old would wear, scaled down for a 3-year-old. Muted palettes, slightly worn-in feel, nothing that looks like it belongs in a party bag. My son has two. We’ll be reordering bigger sizes when he grows out of them!

Does It Actually Hold Up?

Yes. This was my main concern before ordering because it’s not the cheapest I’ve ever paid for my son’s outfits. And I wash his clothes, a lot. Scrub, in fact. So cheap materials are not worth my investment.

Little Trouble uses organic cotton with a substantial weight to it. After months of wear (and one kid who treats his clothes like they are indestructible), everything has held its shape and its color. The graphics have not cracked. The hems have not unraveled. I am genuinely impressed.

Your Kid Is Cool Enough For Little Trouble If…

Little Trouble was made for:

  • Kids ages 1-10 (they run up to size 10/12)

  • Parents who have aesthetic opinions and have been frustrated by the lack of options

  • Active kids who destroy clothes at a professional level (like my son)

  • Anyone who has stood in a kids section thinking why is all of this so ugly

It is especially strong for boys, where the options in the "cool but not costume-y" category are genuinely limited. Little Trouble fills that gap in a way I have not seen anywhere else at this price point. Not to mention the conversation starters that these pieces create.

My Honest Take

I started recommending Little Trouble because I genuinely love this brand. My son has more pieces from this brand than any other brand right now, and I’ve been impressed with the speed of shipping, quality, compliments, everything.

If you have been looking for kids clothes that feel like they were designed by someone with taste - because they were - check them out.
